This coming week many of us will celebrate our Independence Day with the customary fanfare of spectacular light shows, of barbecues at home with family and friends and delight in a break from work! Most of us when we think about it
can relate to the historical basis for celebrating July 4 and if asked we would probably say it’s our independence and freedom from British rule. If we were asked what personal freedoms we would like to experience, We might be tempted to say freedom from worry and anxiety, freedom from lack, freedom from sickness, freedom from frustration and unhappiness. On one level of consciousness that could be a genuine desire.
I love the lyrics from a chorus that many of us are familiar with that says, “I am free I am unlimited, there are no chains that bind me…” because it reminds me that our soul is already free and has been for all time?
As we go about our celebrations this week let this greeting be an invitation to know the truth that sets us free from fear and doubt and from the awareness of divine peace and freedom, let us bless others with their freedom and divine peace.
“God has called you to freedom! Hear the call…use it to serve each other…” — Galatians 5:13
“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” – 2 Corinthians 3:17
